Medway Labour Group congratulates GCSE pupils on their achievements today against a difficult and unsettling backdrop of upheaval and confusion in the exam system.
Cllr Adam Price, Medway Labour Spokesman for Children and Young People, said:
‘This year’s GCSE candidates faced particular challenges, but have risen to them.
‘From interference in the way exams are marked and a lack of past papers for revision to a 9-1 grading system which remains a mystery to many employers and a lack of clarity about what constitutes a pass, this has been a shambolic episode and the blame lies squarely with meddling Tory Education Ministers.
‘Medway pupils have demonstrated the strength to overcome all of this and I wish them well in the decisions they now face about their next steps.’
